Refund issue with kitchen appliance from Amazon.in

I had purchased a kitchen appliance from Amazon.in, the item turned out to be defective. The seller asked me to ship the item back and I will be paid back the shipping charge that I will incur. I had to ship that back to the seller, through a private courier service.

After shipping the item back, I received an email from Amazon's escalation team asking me if I would like to receive the payment for shipping charge in either Gift Card or Paper cheque. I asked for a NEFT transaction or a paper cheque, but they enforced the Gift card to my Amazon account, even after I had clearly mentioned in the email that I didn't want any Gift Card as I won't be using their services anymore and they are now refusing to cancel it and pay me back the shipping charge.

Please Help.
