I visited Nemcare Hospital, GS Road, Guwahati on 23rd August 2016. My mother injured her toe nail which had started bleeding. We were close to the hospital at that time and decided to go there to get some first aid. They first asked us to make a hospital card for Rs. 400/-, then told us to purchase the necessary items like Tetanus syringe, gloves etc for another Rs.100/- After dressing the wound they again charged us Rs.580/- for their services. The total expense for merely dressing a broken nail came to about Rs.1,100/- which is an exorbitant amount for such a small problem. I could afford it but what about the less privileged who would have to shell out a week's earnings just to dress a small wound.
