I purchased a new Whirlpool Refrigerator REF-355 ELT ARCTIC STEEL 3S-20797 with serial-number INE 182022683 on 06.07.2018. The service-franchise after so many calls sent a highly irresponsible mechanic for installation and demonstration, who was behaving as if the elderly couple has known about a defrost-refrigerator for first time in life. However the refrigerator had basic manufacturing defect right from the day of purchase when everything including vegetables and fruits were spoilt because of frozen ice on them even on auto-mode. When a complaint was lodged, same mechanic visited and befooled us by putting the refrigerator on low-mode in a bid to eye-wash the basic defect in the refrigerator. Evidently then the required cooling in hot season of July-August could not be achieved. Ultimately a complaint was registered on 01.08.2018 with serial-number DL0818000435, when the same mechanic visited assuring to come with necessary part to be replaced. But the mechanic never returned back.

After 38 days of initial lodging of the complaint, another mechanic came from the franchise to replace a part of the newly purchased refrigerator after a complaint lodged through dealer, establishing that the product had basic manufacturing defects. Ultimately on lodging the complaint dated 09.09.2018 numbering 9984401 with Jago Grahak Jago, some Sahil of the company agreed to replace the refrigerator with an upper 4-star black-coloured model-number 20866 of 360 litres as a token compensation towards the trouble faced during hot season for so long and wastage of fruits and vegetables in faulty refrigerator.

On regularly reminding Sahil, some Suresh from warehouse of the company shocked me on 12.11.2018 that he was instructed to send obsolete model-number 20771 which was discontinued way back in earlier financial year ending March 2018. When the matter was taken up with Sahil, he bluntly told that I will have to accept obsolete model-number 20771. I have all voice-recordings of Sahil repeatedly confirming that the refrigerator would be replaced with model-number 20866 introduced in current financial-year.

It is quite likely that obsolete model-number 20771 may be a similar defective piece lying with the company after being returned from some customer. Otherwise there is no logic that such an old piece may be lying unsold for long eight months or more. I have lost all faith in the company, and the company now must refund total invoice-value together with a exemplary compensation of rupees one lakh for causing great mental agony leave apart cost of damage to me. Shocking change of stand on 12.11.2018 by Sahil could even cause me a heart-attack, and my complete working-day was wasted without even eating any thing throughout the day because of unbearable mental-agony and anger to the extent which could even cause danger to my life.

Whirlpool should immediately respond to this e-mail which is being also taken up with Jago Grahak Jago.
