Deactivation of postpaid connection

Complain ID : CCN051177   32

Airtel Complaint Complaint Date: February 23, 2021
I had raised a request, on behalf of my senior citizen uncle, Biplab Ray Chaudhury, for deactivation of a postpaid connection 7605027449. I had called up customer service on 6th Feb and was given a reference #31-3557557640331 and was told it would take 7 business days for deactivation. After 7 days when i still did not receive any confirmation from Airtel, i called up again and this time, I was told it takes 14 business days for deactivation and rest assured, I would get another email confirmation. I still did not receive any email and as such, I wrote to Airtel on 22nd February to know the status. So, someone responded by saying that my deactivation request is actually 22nd Feb and that I will again be charged on my usage. So after 16 days of my initial request, my uncle’s number is still not deactivated and he is being asked to pay additional charges, even after all the previous bills had already been cleared by my uncle. Airtel is unnecessarily and unethically harassing a senior citizen and taking advantage of his age by bullying him.
