Details of the Complaint (Please type the full details of the complaint) -

Kotak Life Insurance cover plan (Policy No. - CD000077 | Policy Certificate No. - CD000077_18199637_43100439 | Member ID - 43100439) was purchased by the policy holder - Mr. Sandeep Kumar (now deceased) along with the Car Loan from Kotak Mahindra Bank to secure the car loan amount against life's uncertainty. The customer (Sandeep Kumar) took the delivery of the car from the dealer on 1st June after the car loan was processed from the bank's end, but unfortunately he passed away on 11th June.

The bank has now shared a copy of the Car loan agreement with the Car loan execution date - 13th June'2020 with customer signature on it, which clearly indicates that the loan agreement was forged and wrongly executed with incorrect execution date, after the death of the loan holder, which is impractical and illegal. Since the Kotak Life Insurance Policy Cover was taken to protect the Car loan amount, hence the inception date on the Insurance Policy Document is same as the Car loan execution date i.e. 13th June which is misleading. The bank has hence denied to give the death claim, as the Policy Holder passed away before the Policy Inception date.

I've been struggling with the bank for more than 6 months now, but finally got the email confirmation on 28th Jan'2021 that they cannot provide the claim as the the Life Assured expired prior to the policy inception date. So practically, the Kotak bank executed the Car loan on behalf of a dead person and also Insured a dead person, which is a big question mark on the modus operandi of Kotak Mahindra Bank and Kotak Life Insurance Company Ltd.

I've attached the Insurance Policy Document, Car Loan Execution Document and the Death Certificate of the Policy holder for your kind reference.

I would humbly request the designated officials to lodge an official complaint against the insensitive approach of Kotak Mahindra Bank and help my younger sister (Abhilasha Sinha) get the death claim of her deceased husband at the earliest.
