over charging on MRP

The undersigned is a Government Servant working in the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways and is a Central Govt. Health Services (CGHS) beneficiary. On 14/01/2016, the wife of the undersigned viz. Mrs. Sneh Lata, aged 41 years (CGHS Card No. 3619514) had undergone treatment from Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Plot No. 500, Kohat Enclave, PWD Road No. 1, Opp. Metro Pillar No. 345, Pitam Pura, New Delhi – 110034. Her UID No. is 43228. The name of treating doctor name is Dr. Gaurav Nagpal. After her treatment, she was discharged on 14/01/2016 itself. A scanned copy of IPD Bill is attached for your ready reference. A bill for Rs.25,981/- (Rs. Twenty Five Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty One only) was raised vide Bill No. 0131/2015-16/01858 for the above treatment, which was paid by the undersigned through cash on 14/01/2016. Scanned copy of the Bill dated 14/01/2016 along with discharge summary dated 14/01/2016 is attached for your ready reference. After having gone through the details of the above bill for Rs.25,981/- on 18/01/2016, it has come to notice that the above bill for Rs.25,981/-, amongst other things, comprised of an amount of Rs.12,700/- for Acriol EC [Foldable Hydrophobic Yellow Intraocular Lens (Sterile)] with Style AS-6Y. I was shocked to see that the above said item has an MRP of Rs.10,700/- only (inclusive of all taxes), against which an amount of Rs.12,700/- has been charged from the undersigned. A scanned copy of the box clearly showing MRP of Rs.10,700/- is attached for your ready reference. I immediately went back to the hospital administration and enquired and complained about the above malpractice on the part of Hospital and requested them to refund the excess amount of Rs.2000/- (i.e. Rs.12,700 – 10,700). The hospital staff, however, refused to refund the amount and brazenly asked me to do whatever I can. Sir, it is a pity that a company of such a big size and stature Vasan Eye Care, engaged in the nobel profession of medical treatment, is resorting to such malpractice of charging price more than MRP, which the law of the land does not permit. I humbly request you to kindly direct the concerned staff of Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Plot No. 500, Kohat Enclave, PWD Road No. 1, Opp. Metro Pillar No. 345, Pitam Pura, New Delhi – 110034 to refund the above stated amount of Rs.2000/- to the undersigned.
