As I had to wind up from Delhi I engaged Agarwal Cargo Packers and Movers based at New Palam Vihar, Gurgaon - 122017 for moving my household articles from Delhi to Coimbatore based on the assurance and genuinity as narrated at the time of engaging their services. At the time of obtaining the estimate I was quoted a total sum of Rs. 25,000/- + Service Tax + 3% Transit Insurance for damages. At the time of confirming the estimate I was also told that the goods will be packed and picked up from my Delhi Address and will be delivered at the Destination within 7 to 10 days time. But the materials were packed and loaded in a local truck and I was given a Bill totaling to Rs. 43750/- which included additional charges of Green Tax 2500/- and Border Tax 6500/-. The insurance @ 3% of Rs. 6000/- was also charged and the total sum was collected from me, where as at the time of giving the estimate it was informed that 80% at the time of dispatch and balance 20% at the time of delivery at destination. The goods were packed and taken on 5th of July and it was actually moved after getting the 50% payment made by cheque encashed and for balance 50% an advance of Rs. 5000/- was taken at the time of giving the estimate and balance cash of Rs. 16875/- was paid on 5th Kuly to his representative. Though he has collected Rs.6000/- towards Insurance Premium, no cover note has been provided so far and the goods have been received in damaged condition. I have separately written to him for the damages as well as refund of Rs. 6000/- collected for Insurance for which no cover note has been made available. The transporter is misguiding innocent people posing as he is the genuine Agarwal Packers & Movers and all others are franchises. This sort of fraudulant activities tantamounds to cheating of innocent people. In total I have claimed Rs.10000/- towards damages including reimbursement of Rs.6000/- Insurance premium collected. The damage to the goods has been due to transhipments enroute whereas his assurance was the goods will be loaded and sealed in front of me and that it will be opened and delivered at destination only by his representative. However, it was not so and he cooly transhipped the consignment in another truck and made me to pay the labor for unloading the same at destination.
