1. I was appointed on Contract on Retainership (a case of employer evading PF regulation) with UWSB dated September 27, 2013 wherein the renewal clause mentions validity on yearly basis. However, after 15 months of joining in January 2015, without renewal of contract I got an increment too (salary revised from Rs 70,000/- to Rs 77,000 per month). Hence it is assumed (as per law) that the annual contract was in continuity. Secondly, the terms referred to in Clause 10 of the contract mentions about 'employment' terms including leave rules, full time work schedule etc. mentioned in clause 7& 8.
2. On May 2, 2015 I suddenly received a email on a weekly off from the Dean Unitedworld School of Business terminating the validity of my service contract as Professor. This was done without any prior hint or intimation or discussion; disregarding all rules of propriety and ethical norms.
• I have waited for over nine months since my request sent on the same day seeking settlement of monetary dues against notice period including compensation. There has been no response from UWSB till date. The amount of compensation works out as follows: Rs 77,000/- salary per month X 5 months from May 2, 2015 till 27, September 2015. (Rs 4.80 lacs).
• 15 days leave with pay entitled to each teaching staff beginning May 1, 2015 (Rs 38,500/-)
• Damages as compensation for harassment for me and my family Rs 77,000/- X 3 months (2.31 lacs).
• Total amount works to be Rs 7.50 lacs plus amount payable in lieu of PF benefits.
