not accepting rs.500 & rs.1000 currancy

dear sir;
today morning i went to purchase grocery from demart mall at vasai(w) , pincode -401202, but there staff were not accepting the payment made in rs.500 or rs.1000 notes saying government( r.b.i) has stopped to accept this currency and arguing with the notice putt up on their building wall, which has no authentication with any manger signature or not printed on the letter head.
i am very much shocked by the printed paper stick up on the wall.
all small shop bank and others are accepting the currency and r.b.i. had issued special letter to demart managemnt for not accepting the currency.
in the said printed letter they have cleriaerly mentioned that r.b.i had made this currency invalid w.e.f 09.11.2016, is this true sir. if not then requesting you to look into matter and solve this matter because it is very much harassment to the public.
