On 21st Dec 2016 at Bengaluru Airport, after completing my boarding and security process and just about to board the flight, i was called down to remove battery bank from my checked in luggage. therewas no one to assist me or guide me and By the time i went down to find a Indigo staff , locate my luggage and remove the battery bank, the flight doors were closed and i was forced to miss the flight. there was no one to assist or help despite my appeals.
I was visiting Delhi for urgent medical emergency and hence I did not notice the new signboards . I was forced to pay INR 17K for the next flight which I took at 14:30 PM since it was a medical appointment with a senior Dr at delhi. we were a group of six people but none of us were told at the counter that we should not carry the battery bank in checked in luggage (though we missed the signboards) .
My family had to go through so much trauma and pain because of this unexpected shock. I missed the appointment with Doctor, lost my HOTEL booking, and also that i had booked cab and hotels at Delhi.
If only the Airline counter person could have informed while checkin in the luggage , this could have been avoided.
they could have detained the luggage and let it come by next flight but thier intention was that I miss the flight and buy the exorbitant priced next flight.
I wish to add another critical point which i have seen almost every time I have visited airport : I see many passengers miss the flight despite the fact they had arrived at airport more than 45 mins in advance !
if a passenger arrives on time to airport, but delayed due to long que at airline counter , what is the fault of passenger, is this not where the governance and regulatory authorities should step in to safeguard the interest of the passenger ? why should passenger pay differential fare ? i have my Uber booking receipt to prove what time i arrived at the airport. How else fo passenger prove that they arrived on time ? what is the control ?
