Respected CM Sir,
I am an NRI working in Abu Dhabi offshore since 27 years and travel every month to Abu Dhabi and back and also to other places abroad. I would like to bring to your notice the hurdles faced by travelers while departing from Indiaand arriving to India at Mumbai airport.
Firstly the Immigration process takes a very long time both while departing and at the arrival. After the immigration during arrival there is a long queue of people with baggage most of the times at the customs although the baggagehas already been screened. After that when the traveler comes out like about after an hour or so of landing, for about 75-100 meters the persons have to carry their baggage and walk through a narrow walkway to take an autorickshaw. Earlier the rickshaw wasavailable immediately at the departure ground floor now after coming out the security personnel have put a narrow barricade which makes it a big torture.
Similarly while departing the immigration process takes a long time and many a times reaching three hours prior the flight is not enough. This is really tough especially for frequent fliers. I have few suggestions as follows:
1. The immigration system to be made biometric at the earliest to reduce the time taken and make the process faster.
2. There should be categories of immigration like people frequent fliers more than certain number of years there should be separate windows.
3. Separate window for immigration charging an additional amount like Rs.250/- or something for people in a hurry and ready to pay to save time.
