Paytm Wallet services - why is Paytm insisting of Aadhar for KYC.

I have Paytm wallet. am not Paytm bank account holder.
Paytm is insisting on Aadhar for KYC validation. Aadhar is voluntary and not mandatory. why is Paytm insisting of Aadhar for KYC.
My money is stuck in wallet. Am not able to make payments.

Paytm support centre is lousy. Its only to support their cause.
