I had received a SMS from Uber on 8.3.2017 which said
Quote

Congrats. You get 50% off your next two rides in Chennai.Use code WINNER06. Valid till 12th March 2017.TCA"

I have applied the above codes for my two rides on 10.3.2017 and noticed that instead of applying 50% discount, uber applied only Rs 50 on each of the rides.
I had contacted uber 'Help" through the app. and highlighted this. I was astonished to get a reply as follows:

Happy to explain here,
The terms and conditions of promotion.
It states that You have unlocked 50% off 2 rides in Chennai. Maximum value - Rs.50. Valid till 12th March 2017.

My repeatedly asked uber to clarify this and informed that the message no where mentioned about maximum discount value and therefore I should be offered a 50% discount. Uber repeated the same response to all my queries.

From this episode, I am concluding that Uber is sending a false communication to lure customers and charge them exorbitantly later by invoking the TCA at the time of payment.. .

This is a clear case of false communication and cheating the customer. I am marking this note to social media and customer grievances websites and also uber international.
