Restaurant Complaint Complaint Date: January 31, 2026
I would like to bring to your kind notice an unfair trade practice carried out by a restaurants who charged an amount higher than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) printed on an AMUL ice cream product.

On [30.01.2026], I purchased two ice creams from [Spice Villa, Dhanbad, Jharkhand-828121] with other items. The printed MRP on the ice cream was ₹30 and ₹65, however, I was charged ₹40 and ₹80, which is clearly higher than the MRP. Upon questioning the staff of this restaurant, I was informed that the extra amount was charged for refrigeration/cooling, which is illegal and against the Consumer Protection Act. He told me, the price is not fixed and their behaviour was too bad.

As per consumer laws, no seller is permitted to charge more than the printed MRP under any circumstances. This act amounts to overcharging and unfair trade practice, causing financial loss and harassment to consumers.

I kindly request the Consumer Forum to take appropriate action against the concerned seller and ensure strict enforcement of consumer rights to prevent such practices in the future. I am ready to provide the bill and product details if required.

Thanking you.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. S. Biswas
