Our IFB clothes dryer stopped working around Christmas. I looked up the internet and found a customer care number and called them to fix it . They responded saying 350₹ for home visit and it will be looked into in 24 hours . They came the next day and seemed to have fixed it . The technician also made out an AMC for 5950₹ and sent the receipt on our phone . No physical copy was given . Should have guessed at that time that something was wrong.
Next week the dryer again stopped and I called the number on the receipt- 1800 120 7056 . I mentioned the previous visit and the AMC . Surprisingly they said I have to call another number for the AMC cases. I protested saying that this was the number on the contract- but they wouldn’t listen . Before I could take down the number the phone disconnected. I tried to call the number of the technician who had forwarded the AMC from his phone - 9131028672
He wouldn’t pick up
So in frustration I called the 1800 number again and lodged a complaint about the dryer without mentioning the AMC . They took down the complaint but it was not followed up - this was on the 4th January. Seeing the weather in Delhi I called again on the 5th, 6th, 7th, requesting again and again that they should please send someone as clothes were not drying. Not for a moment I thought that it was a fraud number or agency. Fed up we looked up IFB Instagram and put it on that. We got a call from the company and were told that we had probably reached out to an independent fraud company and it had nothing to do with them the AMC. They also gave the correct customer care number of the company and have registered our complaint
We realise we have been made a fool of by someone posing as IFB customer care and we want to know how they can be made accountable. Even if they independently service appliances they should at least honour their contract and repair the machine or return our money
On calling the 1800 number repeatedly they now pretend they are not IFB but LG repair centre
Would like our money back and alert others not to be fooled
